Washington Long Term Care 2021
FRIENDS IN WA STATE. If you are currently a working W2 employee then by now you have recieved notices from your HR department about the new MANDATORY Washington State Long Term Care tax that you will be resposible to pay. Its a tax to relieve some pressure from the state's Medicaid system which currently covers 51% of all Washingtonians recieving LTC. Here are some facts you should know.
1. The state LTC pays only a max of $100/day for 365 days which is just enough to get you a bed at truck stop waffle house.
2. You CANNOT take the coverge with you if you move out of WA. The money just stays with the state.
3. You will pay 0.58% of your gross W-2 pay unless you can prove you have your own long term care plan by November 1, 2021.
4. This tax is PERMANENT.
5. IMO. it is a grossly underpowered, poorly developed plan.
What can you do about it? You can opt out and get your own plan that is way better and more cost effective. Applications must be APPROVED before Novemer 1, 2021 and plans take a couple of weeks to process. I have details and I can help.
